Books, Mini Books and
Biographies with Rosemary Phillips
You have a story to tell. Everyone has a story to tell. Or maybe
you have a parent who has a story that family would love to have
on record. But how do you tell it? How do you put it together and
print it?
Writing a Biography - it can be short, it can be long
Be it short, a few pages, or long, book length, I can act as ghost-writer
or the “with” to help you organize your material and
tell your story in a voice that sounds like you. Either with tape-recorded
interviews or telephone interviews, I will help you feel at ease
as you tell your story. When you are at ease, then the story just
pours out with feeling. The key here is comfort.
Printing your story
Once the story or stories have been reviewed and you feel comfortable
with the final copy, arrangements can be made for printing and production
in a variety of formats from simple photocopying and three ringed
folders or stapling, to printers and bindery, all in your home town.
Said old Wallace Baikie, logger and historian, in 1986:
“To Rosemary Phillips go many thanks for helping me put this
together.”
Wallace was referring to his books “Strathcona, a history
of British Columbia’s first Provincial Park” and then
“From Gypo to BTO, the first twenty-five years of the Truck
Loggers’ Association of British Columbia” both compiled
by Wallace Baikie, with myself providing the organization, editing,
typesetting and paste-up. Included were Wallace’s memories
and stories of his adventures. Wallace was in his 80s at the time
and he confided that doing these books was helping keep him alive.
He wanted to leave a legacy.
My own biographical and autobiographical publication is
“Sliced Bread – Notes from a Baker’s Rebel Daughter”.
