Vancouver Island Symphony Season – Explore the Sound
This month the Vancouver Island Symphony in Nanaimo begins another
exciting season “Explore the Sound” with guest artist
Angela Cheung, one of Canada’s most distinguished and respected
pianists. Maestro Marlin Wolfe will
be opening the program with Brahms “Academic Festival Overture”
– perfect for the beginning of a season designed to explore
the sound of music.

| William Switzer and Roma |
Tucked away in the back streets of Vancouver is a showroom and
factory that produces high-end furniture that is featured in the
top interior design showrooms across North America – William
Switzer & Associates. I had the privilege of doing an interview
with William Switzer to follow his career in design. I also got
to tour the factory, and met son Allan, daughter Renee, and Roma
the standard poodle. The article will be published in the November/December
issue of Canadian Interiors magazine.
The Day the Wind Changed
After ten years of revisits and rewrites the children’s story
“The Day the Wind Changed” has now found its voice.
It’s so exciting when something finally speaks and says, “Yes,
I’m ready!” The story (and song) is being given its
inaugural performance with adults this month at a retreat in Chilliwack
and will then be ready for production.
To celebrate this accomplishment I have included a Bite
of The Month about a wind storm on Quadra Island a number
of years ago. As I write this newsletter Halifax is recovering from
power outages after the recent hurricane, and parts of British Columbia
are repairing after the devastating affects of what wind can do
with fire. The wind is a powerful force and can certainly change
our lives.
Web site is now together
After several months of work this new-look site is now together
with all the little details smoothed out. It’s been a mammoth
task for my site manager who has been very patient with me and steered
me through. Now we wait patiently for the new site and pages to
settle into the search engines.
We would love to hear from you as to what you think of the site,
if it provided you with the information you were looking for, and
if it was easy for you to use. We are also open to suggestions and
new ideas. So do contact
us and say a few words.
Thank you for visiting.
Until November – cheers
Rosemary
