Dear Readers,
Spring. Daffodils. Just love ‘em. Here’s a favourite
quote of mine: "A house with daffodils in it is a house lit
up, whether or not the sun be shining outside. Daffodils in a green
bowl – and let it snow if it will." (a.a. milne)
Gordon Lightfoot releases new album
I started out making this Gordon Lightfoot month, but as Clyde
Mitchell, conductor of the Sinfonia Orchestra of the North Shore
in Vancouver pointed out, "Every month is Gordon Lightfoot
month."
If you’ve been listening to Shelah Rogers and "Sounds
Like Canada" lately you will no doubt have heard some of the
songs on Gordon Lightfoot’s latest CD "Harmony".
It’s his 20th original album and is due for release May 11,
2004. He recorded this guitar and vocals prior to his falling ill
in September, 2002, worked on the mixes while recovering, and the
band recorded their tracks later. To get folk warmed up for the
release, Lightfoot gave exclusive rights to "Sounds Like Canada"
to air several of the cuts.
Gordon Lightfoot Tribute
I recently took in a Gordon Lightfoot Tribute featuring Aengus
Finnan, Valdy and Lynn Miles, I couldn’t help but write a
review. I took a number
of photos of Valdy in action as singer and stage manager, of Aengus
doing his job selling CDs, and of Lynn Miles smiling. I hope you
enjoy the presentation.

Thank you Gordon Lightfoot
Seeing the Tribute raised many fond memories of Gordon and his
music so I have included my own thank you in
Bite of the Month, my own experience of this amazing man who
has influenced so many over the last forty years.
Asha (Hope)
Asha (Hope) has now been performed on stage with participation
from Doukhobor Choirs of the Boundary-Kootenay region who were in
the audience. It was a thrilling experience to have so many wonderful
voices joining in the sounds of Om, Shalom, Asha and Inshallah.
Talk about an energising experience. To hear a sound sample of the
studio recording of the song follow the link on the
Lyrics page.
Until next month,
Cheers
Rosemary
