So what is mediumship? To do with being a medium. The Collins
dictionary defines a medium as a “person through whom communication
can be held with spirit world.” Oxford says, “a means by
which something is communicated.” And what is psychic? A person susceptible to psychical influences, a medium. Going one step further, psychical is of the soul or mind, of phenomena and conditions apparently outside the domain of physical law. Clairvoyance is to do with seeing, second sight, inner sight, other sight. Clairsentience is knowing. It all boils down to communication of some kind, communication with dimensions beyond. And for those who are shaking their heads in denial, please check the Bible, 1. Corinthians 12 and 13 and read about the gifts we have been given, the greatest of which is love.
We all have the ability
Anyone who is a designer, artist, musician, cook, engineer,
scientist, creator of anything, is a medium for an idea
before it becomes a reality in this third dimension. Where
do these ideas and visions come from? I’ve been told that
our third-dimension minds can’t begin to comprehend the
immense magnificence of existence and the Universe, the
layers and levels of consciousness. So, I don’t know the
answer, but I am reminded daily of this magnificence. Nothing
seems to be by chance - as if everything is planned. So
what is this Divine Force that seems to make sure that everything
happens in our lives at exactly the right time and place
for our own soul’s growth? Beats me!

All I know is that I have “sensed” things since I was a
child, but in my innocence I thought everyone thought the
same way I did. It wasn’t until I was in my 20’s that my
Nana Meakes, who was a Spiritualist as well as a Methodist
in the UK, told me about her own abilities. I later found out that my great-great-grandmother on the
Harrison side of the family was an herbalist and “sensitive”.
So maybe I come by it through genes. However, it wasn’t
until I was 31 that Joe Benjamin, well known UK medium,
told me I was a natural born psychic and healer and to “put
my hands on people”. Since then I’ve taken it all more seriously,
sat in circles for development, read lots, watched and listened
lots, walked in nature lots, written lots, and finally I
understand some of the things I wrote about and did in my
early years. You’ll note I said “some” of the things; I
certainly don’t understand everything.

There’s a saying, “If you don’t use it you lose it!” It’s
almost as if once you make the step to work with mediumship
there is no turning back. I’ve often threatened the “other”
worlds that I would quit and go and sit on a bar stool.
The comment I got from friends was that I’d most probably
end up counselling the bar tender. So once you are on the
road there is no turning back or stepping off – it becomes
a part of who you are.
My understanding is that my purpose in life is to share
the talents. (Medium Martin Brough said recently, “Why else
have you got them – but to use them.”) In sharing the talents
I am able to help other see that life does indeed continue
after physical death, that there is nothing to fear in Going
Home, and that this world really is truly amazing. I thank
the Force for everything, whatever you may call it – God,
Allah, Mazda, Creator, Life, Universe, The Boss or...
